Are you finding yourself constantly stuck indoors, even when the weather is nice? Do you remember what it felt like to be a carefree child running everywhere you went regardless of the heat index?
I challenge you this summer, to get outside and do something that you loved to do as a kid!
Kids are the perfect example of being active with exercise – it comes so naturally to them. It’s the “fun” kind of exercise. In fact, they just see it is play. I think they’re on to something. Take their example and move every day. Here are some ways that you can relive the good ole days:
- Paddle Boarding – this is good not only to get you outside, but it works your entire body due to the balance and concentration that it offers.
- Kayaking or Canoeing – a great upper body workout. The motion of the paddles works your shoulders, while also engaging both your core and your back.
- Paddle Boating – a GREAT cardio workout and an excellent friend activity!
- Roller-skating or Blading – another all-over workout if you do it right. Also a fabulous cardio workout with lower body focus. Engaging your leg muscles, and maybe some muscles you haven’t FELT since you were a kid (like those inner thighs).
- Swim – swimming is an awesome cardio workout and a great low-impact event if you’re feeling like you need something to ease you into moving. And yet, it can be highly intense if you are swimming laps. A great full-body workout that won’t put stress on joints.
- Hike – there are so many options out there for places to hike. You can go to state parks, maybe your own city has a walking path, find somewhere new to hike and make a day of it!
- Play Ultimate Frisbee – for the more enthusiastic athletes. Get a group of friends together, or initiate it at a summer barbeque and have a great game of Ultimate. Your friends and family are sure to thank you for reliving some great memories.
- Jump Rope – it doesn’t have to be something huge, simply picking up the jump rope will work your lower body, and give you a good cardio workout. Plus, you don’t have to spend a lot of time jumping rope to feel the heart pumping.
- Play Kick-ball – an easy way to get bursts of work in and it’s super fun with friends and family.
- Hula Hoop – a great way to whittle the middle while having a little fun. Wiggle those hips and your sure to get a smile or a laugh across your lips.
So there you have it! So many great ways to get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and get moving this summer. Be free from what others think of you or how you think you might look partaking in out-of-the-box activities and enjoy being a kid again. Hopefully, you’ll have fun making memories and be alongside the kids in your life. And if you are looking for a way to eliminate your “muffin top” in the process. Go HERE!
