February tends to bring about posts relating to relationships, but the posts in February rarely talk about painful relationships. Let’s look at three reasons to forgive people that have hurt you.
Forgiveness is highly overlooked in a culture that is all about self-gratification. The hard thing to do is forgive; the easy thing to do is to leave the relationships wounded and continue to harbor hurt feelings. At least most people are deceived into thinking this way.
What you may not realize about that act though, is that the negativity you harbor actually ADDS stress to your physical state. Obviously not in a good way.
You release negative emotions when you forgive someone.
When you verbalize (either written or spoken) forgiveness, your negative emotions begin to shift into the positive. The emotions you FEEL may not change immediately – in fact, you still may feel hurt. But when you speak forgiveness, you open the door for your heart to change.
Releasing negative emotions begins healing for your spirit.
No matter what you believe, once you forgive someone, a shift takes place inside of you. Your heart becomes lighter because the act of forgiving someone takes the responsibility off of you. Once you have spoken (or written) the words giving someone grace through your pain – you shift the responsibility of responding negatively off of yourself. It is then up to that person to accept what you have said, or not – therein shifting the emotions of freedom. It’s no longer your burden to bare, and truthfully…never was.
With freedom comes healing and restoration.
All of your negative emotions can cause weight gain. Literal, physical weight can be triggered by negative emotions that trap toxins, inflammation, and excess weight in the body. Once you begin letting go – forgiving – you will notice your weight can change (especially with the right physical exercise and eating plan) drastically. I see it frequently with my clients that go through my Visibly Fit program. Once we focus on the forgiveness part, they have 5 to 10-pound releases just from letting go and forgiving!
My February Visibly Fit group is full and currently closed, but you can take the first step and go through my 84-day challenge and see how it can help change you from the inside out!
