Have you ever been told…

“If you’re not going to do something right, then don’t do it at all?”

Well, I’m here to debunk that phrase. I used to hear that often growing up. Words have such power!

“Right” meant perfect….or so I thought. I’m not perfect, you’re not too….none of us are. Not doing something because it’s not perfect only leads to procrastination, which can lead to many paths of destruction. So, I want to encourage you today –  perfectionism is NOT the answer. Doing something that is on a healthy track consistently IS the answer.

You become better, stronger, and gain more confidence by doing something….even if it’s not perfect! Believe me, I’ve fallen under the perfectionism trap myself. It’s a trap of deception and destruction and it will keep you stuck.

You grow as a person by doing! You know…by taking that walk when you don’t feel like it. By doing your Visibly Fit™ exercises even if they aren’t perfect. Adding one new healthy food item to your plate and taking away one that doesn’t serve your body best. Loving yourself and others to the best of your ability.

Did you need to hear this today? Because I sure did! I know I can’t do it all, so why the added stress and pressure? The anxiety of a big commitment can cripple you, especially if you want each step of the commitment to be perfect, but small grace-filled steps can empower you!

Give yourself and others grace when you fall short of what “right” looks like in your eyes or theirs. The truth is that you’ll never be perfect and neither will I. The good news…you don’t have to be perfect. Giving your best is the best you can give. So….keep giving and keep doing!
