I am so thankful I found Wendie Pett’s program when I did. Having had 7 children in 16yrs my weight was pretty up and down in my 20’s and 30’s but in my 40s it seemed that the “gain 5lbs in the Winter” was only followed by a “lose 3lbs in the Summer” and over those 10yrs I saw myself steadily move from size 4 to size 8 and that was starting to fit tightly (yikes! I am only 5’2″)
I signed up for Wendie’s Visibly Fit in 84 Days Challenge and began tracking my eating habits with myfitnesspal.com. This really opened my eyes to how calorie dense and nutrient poor some of my standard food choices were and I gained a renewed love of real foods. By the time I had lost 10lbs (4months in) I noticed a real improvement in my energy levels and I was much more toned, excited to be able to have a real waistline again and not scared to wear sleeveless shirts anymore. Over the next 3 months I lost 5 more pounds and was a little below my goal weight.
The main reasons the Visibly Fit system worked for me were that Wendie’s exercise program can be done at home and sprinkled throughout the day and doesn’t require any fancy equipment. I work for an online school from home and homeschool our children so that means alot of computer/desk time but that also means the ability to choose my work hours so I work for a few hours then take a break to do the exercises or a brisk walk outside which clears my mind and makes me more productive in my work too. Secondly the Christian Perspective that Wendie brings throughout kept my focus right in this process. It was not just vanity based but had at the core a principle that we needed to be good stewards of our physical frame.
A confession: I didn’t make it all the way through the 84 days and it took me about 100 days to get to the day 60 point as some of the workout routine got too much for me at that point (I have a congenital malformation in my hips that limits me somewhat) but the moves I can do are now part of my regular daily/weekly routines now. The remaining days were saved in my inbox and I am slowly working through the rest.
A little gem: the abdominal inhale/exhale exercise that Wendie teaches near the beginning I do in my car every time I am at a red light pushing my lower back into the seat while doing them. Talk about making an exercise fit your daily routine 🙂
It was so nice to hit January 2014 1 year later and realize I didn’t need to resolve to “loose X#of lbs” because I had been holding fast to my goal weight range for over six months. So my resolution was a simple “ramp up the water consumption” this year. Thanks Wendie
