Turning any space in your home into a gym doesn’t have to be a difficult feat. It doesn’t have to incorporate all the latest exercise equipment or a wide open space – it can be as easy as 1-2-3. Read on to learn more!
Ultimately all you need is one piece of equipment, but we’ll begin by chatting about items that are key to an effective workout space.
Comfortable Floor Surface
First, this is the least necessary of the three. All you need is a mat, towel, or some type of comfortable surface for when you are on the floor.
Athletic Shoes
Second, a good pair of athletic shoes. It’s crucial to have a pair of shoes that are supportive, have good inserts (maybe you need extra arch support and need to get custom inserts), and fit your feet well. Get a solid pair that is fitted perfectly to your feet. Don’t be afraid to ask the salesperson to help you with the fit.
Hydration
It’s important to listen to your body while you workout and HYDRATE! If you are following a video, you don’t have to wait for their breaks to take one – if you sense that your body is asking for water, feel the freedom to pause and take a drink. Be sure that the water bottle you’re using is BPA free.
Your Body
The only thing you REALLY need.
Truly, there is only one thing you really need to turn any room in your home into a gym and that is your body. Your body IS your gym™. Anything else is just extra and can help change exercises up when you are feeling bored. But you don’t need anything other than your muscles, and a bit of flexion and tension. 🙂
