It’s mid-January; the time where many begin to reassess and examine their progress on resolutions and goals set at the very beginning of the year. For many, they tend to only see small progress which leads to negative feelings. From there they are lead to discouragement and then come February. They release any hope of succeeding at their goals for the remainder of the year. HOLD ON! Back it up. There is NO need to continue on this cycle – you CAN keep a new year’s mindset all year long. Let’s take a look…
The way you view success may need to change
If you see success only in large ways, overlooking the small successes, it’s easy to lose heart. If you begin to look at success as an accumulation of small wins, your mindset will quickly change. It will lead to a more positive look at your progress.
Keep a way to record progress
Take before/after pictures, measurements, visual goal chart (vision board), goal tracker pages in a planner, etc. are all excellent ways to have a visual of what you are working towards and seeing how far you have come. If you create a visual way to see what you are working toward, you will have a clearer picture of the progress made.
Be sure you set attainable goals
If your goals aren’t realistic, you won’t be able to achieve them. You might need to reassess what your goals are each month and break your larger goals down into attainable steps for each month/week/day. Bite sized goals are attainable!
Have accountability
Often times, without someone in the journey with you, or cheering you on, small successes seem difficult to celebrate, and “fails” feel larger and cause you to give up completely. With someone by your side, you are more likely to have a better visual of your success even on days you feel like you did your worst.
