? Breakfast is a special time for me. I usually don’t do anything too fancy. In fact, 6 out of 7 days I tend to eat the same breakfast.
Oats with berries with a few other “fixins.” And I never get tired of it.
But I really love breakfast because it’s where I extend my time with the Lord.
I go through my gratitudes and have great expectations for all that God has in store for the day. It’s where I plan out my day, but also knowing that God will direct my steps.
I’m reminded that as I fuel my body with nourishment, He is the One that fuels my EVERYTHING!! Life. It’s a precious gift. I abused it for way too many years.
The good news: you’re never too far gone or too old to make healthy choices that will impact not only you, but your entire lineage of family and circle of friends. ??
Yes…be the change you want to see in the world. Give more. Love more. Even to yourself. ??
To make my favorite breakfast:
1/2 c steel cut oats
Berries to your liking (I use a good variety)
1/2 c unsweetened plant-based milk (more or less depending on your desired consistency)
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp flax seed meal
Other “Fixins” – slivered almonds, unsalted sunflower seeds, chopped walnuts, chopped pecans, unsweetened shredded coconut, etc.
For sweeter oatmeal, use 1/2 banana, mashed
Mix all together and warm. Best done on the stove in a small pot. Stir frequently until desired temperature. Can add berries before or after.
Great source of protein, fiber, and iron.
