It’s time to quit and quit for good!
Refined sugars are not your friend contrary to what your tastebuds and feelings tell you. It’s a trick – don’t give in. The unhealthy bacteria in your gut wants to be fed and it will go to great lengths to convince you to have just one bite or one slice of this poison.
Now – not all sugar is bad. Natural sugars in fruit and yes even in vegetables are the kind of sugar your body really craves. It hasn’t been chemically processed and there are additional nutrients (like fiber) that stabilize blood glucose levels and the nutrients feed the good and bad bacteria in the gut simultaneously.
BUT – keep in mind that overindulgence in even natural sugars can cause the balance of your gut microbiome to get wonky and cause weight gain.
Unless of course, you are an athlete that is burning more calories and requires the energy source, then it’s different and is varied depending on your physical exertion.
But, the majority of people just need to be conscious of their sugar consumption by reading labels and understanding the ingredients. For instance…if you see the suffix “ose” as in sucrose, dextrose, fructose, etc. there’s a high probability that it is sugar. Put that item away and walk away.
Reach for the one ingredient sugar options, as mentioned before, to put yourself in a healthier place. By doing so, you can steer away from the negative impact that refined sugar can have on your overall well-being.
