Home projects have been all the rage lately.
Obviously one of the main reasons is because COVID-19 has allowed us to focus on the home more and it’s been a way to feel productive and not go stir crazy during all these homebound days.
We painted, finished a garage project, and made a small raised-bed garden.
The raised garden has been a definite trend this year, which is fantastic. There’s nothing better than growing your own organic vegetables and fruits.
The raised beds are simple to make and inexpensive to maintain, but they could be expensive to get started due to the price of lumber, starter plants, and the soil needed for the raised bed. Actually, the lumber is usually reasonable.
You can save money by starting early in the gardening process and growing your own starter plants from seedlings.
AND then save money with the soil to fill the raised beds. Don’t get the expensive bags of dirt from the store – instead, order dirt in bulk and have it delivered. Just use a higher-end soil with the very top layer. You can even fill deep beds with tree branches, logs, and compost to take up space and it will break down naturally over time.
Have fun with it and happy gardening!
