Obviously, God made food to nourish our bodies. That answer is simple. But, does it really matter what you are eating if you are healthy and active? Everything in moderation, right?
Wrong.
God does care – more than we, in modern America, think.
He created food in a pure, unaltered, strategic way (Genesis 1:11-12, 29-30). Does that sound like the way that we are eating in the Western world?
Does that describe the cheeseburger and fries at the ever-so-common drive-thru or the quick dinners that you can throw in the microwave in a plastic container? What about the chicken nuggets or the Chinese takeout?
Do you have knowledge about the process? What it contains? How it has been altered?
Most people don’t. If your answer is no, you’re not alone and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. The advertising and marketing industry likes it that way – they make money off of your time.
It’s something to take note of, to begin fighting against, educating yourself about. Start reading labels – it would SHOCK you to see what REALLY is in that bag of chips or the box of crackers you’re eating. All those ingredients that you can’t pronounce – have you ever taken the time to look up what they actually are?
God created food to be eaten as he created it. Does that mean no cooking? Absolutely not! It means he made it to be eaten in its purest form.
Organic, Non-GMO is the only type of food that falls into that category.
It’s food that has not been doused with chemicals, hasn’t been altered to grow bigger and faster, hasn’t been doped up with hormones or altered so much that it changes and interferes with your own hormones.
Do those things sound like the way God intended for your body to be nourished? (Psalm 139:14-16, 1 Corinthians 6:19)
Your body was meant to consume a rainbow of vegetables and fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains. Those cravings that you’re feeling? It’s a lack of nutrient absorption in your body. Your body is TELLING you that it needs pure nourishment.
It needs real nutrients that heal and restore the body and give it sustainable energy for the day, not just a belly to feel “full” and emotional cravings to be pacified.
The emotional hole that you’re filling by starting the day with coffee, by grabbing the chips when you’re upset or stressed, by munching on crackers at your desk all day because you’re bored, those are all areas that need dealing with on a spiritual level.
These are all areas that you are filling with food instead of Christ. (1 Chronicles 16:11, Matthew 6:24, 1 John 4:1)
